The Brooklyn (NY) Daily Eagle (12/11) reported that NYU Tandon School of Engineering “on Thursday announced the launch of its Center for Robotics and Embodied Intelligence, establishing a major East Coast hub for robotics research and education.” According to NYU’s release, more than 70 faculty, PhD students, and post-doctoral researchers “are working in 10,000 square feet of shared experimental spaces, including a 6,800-square-foot flagship facility” in Downtown Brooklyn. Additionally, a 2,200-square-foot Tandon facility is dedicated to “large-scale multirobot experiments, including a manipulation research lab at the new NYU Courant Institute School of Mathematics, Computing and Data Science.” NYU stated that interdisciplinary interactions will “help bridge the gap between the use of AI in the virtual world and its deployment in the physical world.”
